Exploring the potential for and feasibility of remote assessment of optometric skills
There has been speedy growth in the area of remote assessment. Specifically, the assessment of general clinical skills, through COVID safe strategies. The Optometry Council of Australia and New Zealand (OCANZ) approached us to investigate and evaluate the potential for and feasibility of remote assessment of optometric skills.
In order to identify best-practice, we explored key issues regarding the development of, and operational procedures for, remote assessment systems with assessment experts (remote assessment, e-health and telehealth); consulted with optometry school stakeholders; and reviewed available literature.
